Easily the best!

It was supposed to be a normal meet with my better half(officially in few months)/ best friend/partner in crime/ greatest admirer/worst critic, I guess you get the picture. 'Lets just meet for lunch' at least that was what he told me. He just asked me to come in my best outfit. The mistake I did was tell my sweet mum about this and no matter whichever salwar I wore, my mum thought it was too 'ordinary'. After minutes of screaming, changing a few times and lots of cajoling later she made me wear a salwar which I had hidden away in the deep corners of my cupboard. I just felt it was too grand to wear on that particular day. Well you know about Mothers they indeed have a way and if all ways fail then they have the emotional black mail! So finally I gave in to my mum's compulsion.

We were to meet at Coffee day , Nugambakkam around at ten. I took a bus, a train and auto from my place. He calls my place as 'The Village'. I refer to my place as 'Mini Singapore'. Oh the fights we have had regarding the same reason! They were real sweet ones now when I look back at them.Okay, Okay I always digress from the main topic so lets get back. During the bus journey, in filmy style my dupatta flew and fell on a man's face who I am sure had a bad day cos he gave me such a scowl. So much for film scenes. In movies they show how mesmerized the guy will stand , well it works only in movies! Hmph! So I reach at the location in one piece. Yes! I say in one piece cos the auto driver thought he was some F1 racer caught in the wrong job. I tipped him well (something which I do not do that often) and prayed for the safety of his next customer for the day.I walked towards the place where my love was waiting for me. He seemed to be at ease in grey pants and a blue shirt with shades of white. He was surprised seeing my outfit just as I had dreaded. He gave me one of his beautiful smiles. Oh yes! He has a collection of smiles and I might someday write a post on his different smiles. So there I sat opposite him and he complimented me saying I look very beautiful. Yeah! Yeah, I was flying, no denial about that. And I silently thanked my mum. Friends, next time your mum says something, fight with her like a mad dog but end of the day listen to her cos it really helps! Saying that let me continue, we were then distracted by the entry of 3 tourist women along with a very cute baby. After admiring the baby for a while we ordered for my favorite drink; Tropical Iceberg. Then he asked me where can we go for lunch. He gave me two options, after confusing him and changing my mind about a couple of times we finally decided and opted for The Taj Coromandel.

I shall be honest, it is my first time to a 5 star luxury hotel and oh I just loved it. I could see my own reflection on the floor. The ambiance was just so beautiful and romantic. I had a feeling that my hair was all messed up after the travel I did so I went to the restroom. Trust me folks, I still remember how the restroom looks, divine! I know I must be the first person in history to describe a restroom in such a way but no hiding the truth. There were flowers arranged beautifully, dolls, creams, perfumes et all. I was busy admiring all these while my poor man was sitting patiently in the lobby. After about ten minutes of admiration (I am sure he will say I took longer than that), I walked to the lobby. The minute he saw me he heaved a sigh of relief and I was kind of embarrassed and I explained to him the reason of my long absence. He just nodded his head and gave me one of his naughty grins and said 'Yeah I knew you must have been doing that only'. Sometimes it scares me how your partner can know what you are gonna think even before you actually think about it. Oh he can be such a mind reader!

We were not alone as there was another gentleman and a lady having a serious discussion. I began asking him how my hair was, whether he liked it the way I had tied it and whether he can see the difference. Being the polite man he is, he just kept nodding his head and he did seem a bit restless. Then all of a sudden my man got on his knees and with roses in his hand he proposed to me. I was just stumped and too shocked to react. I have never been surprised in such a way. Wait! It does not end with that, after I said Yes and some minutes of private conversation (which I do not want to share) , he slowly got up.Instead of sitting next to me he just walked toward the table where the gentleman and lady were seated. Now here is the best part, my man had given my phone (Xperia)to this gentleman and had asked him to take pictures. And thus,we have two pictures which I am going to treasure for the rest of my life. Yes that gentleman had captured 'The Moment'. Someday when I am old and have a dozen of grandkids, I can show them this priced possession of mine. They will realize that their grandparents were young once. And who knows they might start looking at their cricket crazy grandpa in a new way and admire him even more. But I am not exactly sure what they will say about their grandma's outfit!
