I just happened to read an article on how a 24 year old man raped a 3 year old girl. Yeah, it is just another article. As if all these things do not happen every other day. Worse things happen right? So many women get raped, murdered. True. So what is there in reading an article about a three year old girl getting raped? Let us take it in this way. What happens if the three year old girl is someone you know. Your niece? Or that bubbly little girl who lives next door, who is just learning how to frame sentences and all she can do is smile innocently? Or she is your own daughter? The one about whom you had so many dreams. Dreams of watching her take her first step, speaking the first word, graduating, becoming an independent woman, getting married and having kids of her own. Yes all of us have dreams, but it just takes a second for it to be shattered!
If a woman was raped , people always have such genuine reasons like she was not decently dressed ( I seriously dont get that point at all, we women are not creatures to be devoured!). So was this three year old girl also indecently dressed? Did she provoke sexual feelings? What the hell is this world coming to? How can any person in this world ever do such a cruel thing? That poor girls's life is scarred forever. Her innocence is just taken away from her. How can we just be silent and say "Yeah , things happen so let us go on with our lives" .
Who is to be blamed? Not just the perverts looming out there, but you and me also! Are we doing any damn thing to prevent these acts? These perverts are heartless and they are not even humans. They deserve to be stoned to death. How can we just let them out free? Is raping a female ( I dont say a woman , because if a girl of age 3 can be raped then ...?? ) something that is to be taken as an ordinary crime like a theft and is the rapist to be just let free?
I am not saying I am gonna take a stand and from tomorrow and there is immediately gonna be zero rapes in the country. Atleast , let all of us give a try to prevent such cases. And the next time you see someone misbehaving with a woman , I beg you please do something to stop it. Cos the same can happen to your mother, or your sister or your friend or your wife.... or your daughter!!
